Douglas obtained his LL.B. (Hons) from The Victoria University of Manchester, England (now University of Manchester, England) in 1992, and was called to the Degree of an Utter Barrister by The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1993. 

He was subsequently admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1994, and commenced practice as a dispute resolution lawyer in one of the oldest and largest legal firm in Malaysia. 

Having experienced the advantages and disadvantages of a large legal firm, Douglas founded Messrs. Douglas Yee in 2004. The vision was, and continues to be, combining the best practices of a large legal firm with personal and efficient service that a boutique firm is much better placed to provide.

Douglas has over 28 years of experience in all aspects of dispute resolution. Highly regarded as a litigator, he frequently appears as counsel in the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal Court for a broad spectrum of clients, from individuals to multinationals.

He takes on a wide variety of practice areas, with particular interest in defamation law, employment law, corporate law, and commercial law. Siew Choon Jern

Siew Choon Jern read law at University of Malaya and graduated in 1998. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1999.

Siew spent the early part of his career in the firms of Messrs SY Chew & Co, Messrs Lee Hishammudin and Messrs Sivananthan.

In 2004, he joined Messrs Douglas Yee as a senior associate and was admitted as a partner in 2006.

Siew has more than 20 years of experience in litigation, arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution in civil and commercial matters including shareholders’ disputes, negligence, tenant-landlord, employment, joint venture and construction disputes.

Over the years, Siew has also developed a strong presence in family law and matrimonial disputes including custody, maintenance, access to children, division of matrimonial assets and cross-border disputes. He has also been instructed to provide expert evidence on Malaysian law for matrimonial disputes internationally.

He has been a member of the Family Law Committee, Bar Council for over 5 years and was a Co-Deputy Chair of the said Committee in 2016-2017.

Apart from his considerable experience in civil, commercial and family law matters, Siew brings a practical and solution-based approach to all the issues and disputes faced by his clients.

Ong Chern Yii

Chern Yii graduated with LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London in 2011 and obtained her Certificate In Legal Practice in 2012. Thereafter, she was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2013.

Chern Yii is a Senior Associate, and focuses on civil litigation and family disputes. She is a member of the Malaysian Bar Council Family Law Committee (2022/2023) and also a Collaborative Law Practitioner (member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals since 2023). She works closely with the partners of the Firm and has notable involvement in landmark decisions on defamation, civil procedure and family law. Lim Pit Feng

Pit Feng was an active participant of various national and international mandarin debate tournaments during her high school and university days, which cultivated her logical thinking and analytical skills, and most importantly, her enthusiasm towards the profession of civil litigation.

This led her to pursue her legal studies at the University of Malaya.

Pit Feng did her internship with Messrs. Douglas Yee in 2014, and then as a pupil-in-chambers upon graduation from the University of Malaya in 2015 with a degree in Bachelor of Laws (Hons). She was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016 and thereafter commenced practice as an Associate with the Firm.

Pit Feng is most passionate about family law, and assists the partners of the Firm on a wide range of family law matters including contested and non-contested divorce, guardianship, custody, maintenance, access to children and division of matrimonial assets. She is also a Collaborative Law Practitioner (member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals since 2023).

Her practice areas also encompass commercial and corporate disputes, tort law, bankruptcy, winding up and insolvency.

Being a graduate of a Chinese private secondary school school and a public university, Pit Feng is fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Cantonese, and is able to effectively communicate with a broad spectrum of clients. Tang Joey


LL.B. (Hons), Cardiff (Middle Temple)


Joey graduated with LL.B. (Hons) from Cardiff University and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2018. Subsequently, she was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2019.

During her pupillage, she gained exposure to civil litigation and corporate & commercial matters. She assisted in a full array of corporate and commercial disputes as well as the drafting of commercial contracts and instruments for private fund-raising exercises. When she commenced practice as an associate, she expanded her practice areas and began to focus on estate administration law and family law.

Witnessing the profound impact of marital disputes, particularly on children, Joey developed a deep passion in family law. She has handled various contested matrimonial proceedings encompassing negotiation of settlement terms, child custody and maintenance, spousal maintenance, division of matrimonial assets and others.

She is particularly interested in alternative dispute resolution such as mediation to help clients achieve their best interest while preserving the familial relationship.
