Douglas obtained his LL.B. (Hons) from The Victoria University of Manchester, England (now University of Manchester, England) in 1992, and was called to the Degree of an Utter Barrister by The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1993.

He was subsequently admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1994, and commenced practice as a dispute resolution lawyer in one of the oldest and largest legal firm in Malaysia.

Having experienced the advantages and disadvantages of a large legal firm, Douglas founded Messrs. Douglas Yee in 2004. The vision was, and continues to be, combining the best practices of a large legal firm with personal and efficient service that a boutique firm is much better placed to provide.

Douglas has over 28 years of experience in all aspects of dispute resolution. Highly regarded as a litigator, he frequently appears as counsel in the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal Court for a broad spectrum of clients, from individuals to multinationals.

He takes on a wide variety of practice areas, with particular interest in defamation law, employment law, corporate law, and commercial law. Douglas relishes the challenges that complex and substantial disputes often present, and takes pride in offering practical and strategic advice in a clear and straightforward manner.
