Siew Choon Jern read law at University of Malaya and graduated in 1998. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1999.

Siew spent the early part of his career in the firms of Messrs SY Chew & Co, Messrs Lee Hishammudin and Messrs Sivananthan.

In 2004, he joined Messrs Douglas Yee as a senior associate and was admitted as a partner in 2006.

Siew has more than 20 years of experience in litigation, arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution in civil and commercial matters including shareholders’ disputes, negligence, tenant-landlord, employment, joint venture and construction disputes.

Over the years, Siew has also developed a strong presence in family law and matrimonial disputes including custody, maintenance, access to children, division of matrimonial assets and cross-border disputes. He has also been instructed to provide expert evidence on Malaysian law for matrimonial disputes internationally.

He has been a member of the Family Law Committee, Bar Council for over 5 years and was a Co-Deputy Chair of the said Committee in 2016-2017.

Apart from his considerable experience in civil, commercial and family law matters, Siew brings a practical and solution-based approach to all the issues and disputes faced by his clients.

In his work in the area of family law, he is also known within the Bar and amongst his clients as someone who seeks a win-win solution that minimizes the pain and suffering of his clients with the entire family structure in mind. In this regard, Siew is a pioneering member of the collaborative law movement in Malaysia, which seeks to find a holistic solution to matrimonial disputes.
